Mobile Experience Engineer
As a Mobile Experience Engineer at Bildup AI, you'll bring the power of AI-driven personalized learning into the palms of learners across Africa. You'll build native mobile applications that make education accessible anywhere, anytime—whether learners are in Lagos traffic, at home in Enugu, or in a village with intermittent connectivity. This is a role for someone who understands that mobile isn't just another platform—it's often the primary (and sometimes only) way our learners access education. And that great mobile experiences require both technical excellence and deep empathy for real-world constraints.

Key Responsibilities
- •Design and develop native mobile applications for iOS and Android—building responsive, intuitive interfaces that deliver seamless, engaging AI-powered learning experiences and work beautifully across diverse devices, screen sizes, and operating system versions.
- •Optimize for low-bandwidth and offline scenarios—implementing caching, data syncing, and progressive loading to ensure learners can access content even with poor connectivity.
- •Integrate AI features and backend systems—building conversational interfaces with AI Facilitators, real-time feedback systems, personalized learning path navigation, and working closely with backend engineers to design and consume APIs that power personalized learning, progress tracking, and real-time AI interactions.
- •Implement robust authentication, security, and data privacy measures to protect learner information and ensure compliance with educational data standards.
- •Collaborate with product designers and UX researchers to translate wireframes and prototypes into pixel-perfect, performant mobile experiences.
- •Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and performance monitoring—testing across multiple devices, OS versions, and network conditions to ensure reliability while monitoring app performance metrics (crash rates, load times, engagement) and continuously optimizing for speed, stability, and user satisfaction.
- •Stay current on mobile development trends, platform updates, and best practices—bringing innovation and technical excellence to our mobile products.
Ideal Candidate
- •3+ years experience in mobile development with expertise in iOS and Android, proficient in Flutter and React Native with strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns.
- •Experience building apps for emerging markets with considerations for bandwidth, device diversity, and offline functionality.
- •Proficiency with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, real-time communication (WebSockets, Firebase), and familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and app store deployment processes.
- •Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design for mobile.
- •Strong problem-solving skills with attention to performance optimization.
- •Passion for education and building products that work for all learners, regardless of their circumstances.
