AI Training & Alignment Specialist
As an AI Training & Alignment Specialist at Bildup AI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our AI models learn, behave, and align with human values. You'll work at the intersection of data curation, model evaluation, and ethical AI development—ensuring our systems are accurate, inclusive, and contextually intelligent for learners across Africa and beyond. This is a role for someone who understands that building AI Facilitators that teach with empathy, cultural awareness, and pedagogical excellence requires meticulous attention to every piece of training data and every model output.

Key Responsibilities
- •Curate, annotate, and structure high-quality datasets while conducting quality assurance—selecting and preparing training data that enables our AI models to teach effectively across subjects, contexts, and learner backgrounds while auditing datasets for accuracy, completeness, diversity, and bias.
- •Design and execute human-in-the-loop (HITL) workflows—creating systems where human feedback continuously improves model performance, teaching quality, and alignment with educational goals.
- •Evaluate model outputs and monitor AI behavior in production—reviewing AI-generated lessons, feedback, and conversations to ensure they meet pedagogical standards and cultural appropriateness while continuously monitoring real learner-AI interactions to identify issues, biases, or opportunities for improvement.
- •Collaborate with ML engineers and researchers—working closely with technical teams to iterate on model training strategies, and data requirements.
- •Develop guidelines and taxonomies for consistent labeling—creating frameworks, rubrics, and standards that ensure annotation quality and enable effective model training.
- •Test, validate model improvements, and contribute to responsible AI practices—designing experiments to measure whether training interventions improve teaching quality and learner outcomes while helping develop ethical guidelines, safety protocols, and transparency measures for our AI systems.
- •Stay current on AI alignment research and best practices—monitoring developments in AI safety, fairness, and educational AI to inform our approach.
Ideal Candidate
- •Background in Computer Science or related fields.
- •Familiarity with NLP, LLMs, or machine learning workflows (technical understanding, not necessarily coding).
- •Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and passion for ethical AI development with ability to identify subtle biases or misalignments.
- •Understanding of pedagogy, learning science, or educational content is highly valuable.
- •Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
