Communications & Brand Strategy Lead

As Communications & Brand Strategy Lead at Bildup AI, you tell the story of Africa's AI education revolution. You'll lead all communications strategy and execution—securing major media coverage, creating compelling content across every channel, managing social media presence, and positioning Bildup AI as the thought leader defining the future of learning. This is a role for someone who can secure top-tier media coverage, translate complex technology for diverse audiences, and craft narratives that build trust and drive our mission forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategy—defining our brand narrative, messaging pillars, target audiences, and channel strategies that build awareness and credibility.
  • Secure major media coverage and manage media relations—leveraging your network of journalists, editors, and media contacts to get Bildup AI featured in top-tier publications, podcasts, and broadcast media while coordinating product launches, announcements, crisis communications, and ongoing media outreach with professional polish and strategic timing.
  • Lead market education initiatives and develop educational resources—creating content, campaigns, programs, explainer content, webinars, white papers, and case studies that educate prospects, partners, and the public about AI-powered learning, addressing misconceptions, and building category understanding.
  • Create compelling content across all channels—writing blog posts, articles, press releases, social media content, video scripts, and thought leadership pieces that engage and inspire audiences.
  • Lead social media strategy and execution—building and managing our presence on LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms with content that drives engagement and growth.
  • Position Bildup AI leadership as industry thought leaders—developing speaking opportunities, ghostwriting articles, securing podcast appearances, and creating executive visibility that elevates the brand.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media and influencers—cultivating journalists, bloggers, EdTech analysts, and industry voices who can amplify our message and open partnership doors.
  • Develop brand guidelines and ensure consistency—creating and managing brand voice, visual identity, messaging frameworks, and ensuring all communications align with our values and positioning.
  • Track communications impact and collaborate with business teams—monitoring media mentions, social engagement, brand sentiment, website traffic, and market education effectiveness while creating materials, pitches, narratives, and educational content that support sales and partnerships.

Ideal Candidate

  • 4+ years of experience in communications, public relations, brand strategy, journalism, or content marketing with proven track record of building brands and securing major media coverage.
  • Experience educating markets about new or complex products, technologies, or concepts—particularly in tech, EdTech, or emerging categories.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and strategic communications skills with portfolio of compelling work
  • Extensive network of media contacts, journalists, bloggers, and industry influencers (especially in tech, education, or African media).
  • Deep understanding of social media strategy, content creation, and digital community building
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts (like AI) into accessible, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Experience positioning company executives as thought leaders through speaking opportunities, media placements, and content.
  • Strategic thinker who understands how communications drives business objectives.
  • Strong desire to stay at the forefront of EdTech, AI, and media trends.
